Animal Offenses

The Town of Whitecourt limits the number of dogs and cats per household.  Households are restricted to two of any type of animal (i.e. you can have only two dogs and/or two cats).  This restriction took effect in November 2006, and there is a grandfather clause for those households that have more than two of any one type of animal prior to the Bylaw comint in to effect. If you have any questions regarding the Town of Whitecourt Domestic Animal Bylaw, please contact the Town Administration Office at 780-778-2273.

All pets must be kept on your property or under your control when off your property, and you are responsible for your pet if it is found running at large. The dogcatcher will not enter your yard to take the animal to the Pound, but will retrieve the dog/cat if it is outside of your property. Animals will be kept at the Pound for three full working days only. Dogs are not allowed on playgrounds.

The Whitecourt Pound is run out of the Whitecourt Veterinary Clinic located at #2, 4439A - 52 Avenue.  Contact the Pound directly at 780-778-5767.
