Housing Support Services
Whitecourt Affordable Housing Foundation
The Town of Whitecourt is currently seeking public and agency input on identifying local affordable housing needs and priorities. Whitecourt residents are invited to attend a public meeting on Tuesday, April 1 at 7:00 PM at the Forest Interpretive Centre to discuss this issue and to assist with the development of initiatives that will meet short-term needs.
Long-term project plans for addressing local affordable housing needs include partnering with private industry to allocate units in new housing developments as affordable and transitional housing units. This project will require substantial capital investment, and Council is awaiting the release of the Province’s 2008 Budget to see if there are any grant opportunities that can be pursued in order to make this project a reality.
