Whether you are looking for a scenic route or an adventurous ride - you’ll find it in Whitecourt!
Come experience unlimited miles of groomed and powdered trails through forested lands, creeks, rivers and cut lines. Whitecourt and the surrounding area have hundreds of kilometers of designated trails for off highway vehicle use. For those more adventurous, we challenge you to ride the 350 kilometer Golden Triangle Snowmobile Trail – you are assured an exhilarating ride!
Whitecourt is one of the few communities that permits residents to operate off highway vehicles within town. There are tens of kilometers of designated off highway vehicle trails that travel throughout the community and lead to an extensive trail system beyond Town limits.
Riverboating
Have a riverboat and a need for speed? Try your hand in the annual poker rally, or go for a family ride on the Athabasca River and enjoy the scenic landscaping and wildlife.
Whitecourt is one of just four locations worldwide to host the World Jet Marathon along with New Zealand, Mexico and the USA. While you are waiting for the worlds, you can enjoy the Annual Jet Boat Races every August. Events are centered out of Whitecourt’s Riverboat Park.

Fishing and Hunting
If you are a hunter or a fisherman, Whitecourt is the place for you! Whitecourt boasts a variety of big game trophy hunting for elk, moose, mule deer, whitetail deer, bears, coyotes, wolves and even cougars. There is also a variety of the game bird species, including geese and ducks. There is something for every hunter in Whitecourt!
Whitecourt has many great fishing opportunities! Depending on where you fish, you can reel in many different types of game fish, from northern pike to walleye, yellow perch to lake whitefish.

Walking Trails
Whether your looking for some exercise or just want to enjoy the great outdoors, you will marvel at the opportunities provided by more than 30 kilometers of trails that wind through Whitecourt. Paved pathways, meandering trails and residential sidewalks will take you from the hilltop area to the valley. The trails are designed and maintained for year-round use for walking, jogging, inline skating and biking.
Carson Pegasus Provincial Park
Carson Pegasus Provincial Park is located on Carson Lake, 23 kilometers north of Whitecourt on Highway 32. The park is home to a number of diverse mammals and birds, and is a popular camping and fishing destination for residents and visitors alike.
Eagle River Recreation Area
Located 13 kilometers northwest of Whitecourt on Highway 32, the Eagle River Recreation Area is available for the general public to book from May to October. It is a great venue for events such as family reunions, weddings, anniversaries and staff functions.
While there, you and your friends can enjoy a game at the horseshoe pits or a game of volleyball or softball. The facility is also equipped with outdoor bathrooms, a well, fire pit, picnic tables and loading ramp.

To book the Eagle River Recreation Area call 780-778-3433. Due to demand, reservations can only be made by phone and are booked on a first call, first serve basis starting January 2nd annually. A deposit must be made within 10 days of the booking date. You will be required to complete a reservation form and fax it to 780-778-2351.
