Our organization currently has an opening for one permanent full-time Family Support Diversion Worker and one temporary full-time Family Support Diversion Worker within the Community Services Department to deliver services for our regional program.


As a part of the Family Support Program team, you will work closely with families, children, youth, agencies, and the community to provide in-home and community supports in the Whitecourt and regional areas outlined in our contract with Children’s Services.


Key duties include:

  • Individual and family support both in-person and by virtual means when suitable.
  • Developing strategies and recommendations to assist families with the supports and skills they require to function effectively in their home, family and community.
  • Providing referrals to psychologists and family therapists if required.
  • Overall case management; facilitating psychoeducational community groups and sessions on a variety of topics.
  • Facilitating parent education groups, and program reporting including evaluation and outcome measures.
  • Regional travel will be required for this position.

 

From the preferred applicant, we are seeking:

  • A degree, diploma, or certification in a Human Services discipline or equivalent experience and education;
  • Experience in family counseling;
  • Experience in group delivery and community programming;
  • The ability to work with a variety of agencies and partnerships;
  • Experience in community development and working in partnership with multiple organizations;
  • Experience in offering parent education programs;
  • Experience working with diverse populations; and,
  • Motivational Interviewing and Suicide Awareness Training are considered assets.


This position offers a competitive salary and includes the option to participate in a comprehensive benefit plan. The successful candidate will be required to pass a criminal record check (vulnerable sector), an intervention record check, and provide a driver’s abstract suitable to the employer prior to being hired.

The Town of Whitecourt currently has casual positions available with Whitecourt Transit. These positions vary and require early morning, evening, daytime, and weekend shifts, with rotating schedules. 

As a Whitecourt Transit Driver you will operate a Whitecourt Transit vehicle with an established route and time schedule with a varying number of stops along the way. Drivers are responsible for collecting fares, responding to customer inquiries concerning transit information, and ensuring the safety of all customers. This position requires attentiveness, good judgment, safe driving habits, exceptional customer service, and an ability to deal with a variety of passengers. 

 Successful applicants will have:
Class 2 driver's licence;
• Clean driving record and experience driving bus;
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification;
• Air brakes endorsement required. 

Successful candidates must enjoy working with the public, must have above average inter-personal communications skills, and be able to maintain records and statistics on ridership. Prior to being hired, a vulnerable sector record check, intervention check, and clean drivers’ abstract must be submitted and deemed acceptable to the Employer.

• Certification in First Aid and WHMIS
• Excellent communication and supervisory skills
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to work in a team environment and with facility users and the public
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract 
• Be physically fit
• Arena Operator Level 1 and ice making experience an asset
