Notice of Public Hearing - November 25, 2024

Pursuant to the provisions of the Municipal Government Act, the Town of Whitecourt has received an application to rescind Bylaw 1421 – Downtown South Common Area Structure Plan and to amend Land Use Bylaw 1577.

Bylaw 1581 - Rescind Bylaw 1421

Proposes to rescind the Downtown South Common Area Structure Plan (ASP Bylaw 1421) as the lands are primarily developed out. The remaining NE26-59-12-W5 cannot be developed as envisioned in the ASP and requires a new development plan.

Land Use Bylaw 1577-2

Proposes to rezone NE26-59-12-W5 from C-1 Core Commercial – Downtown and R-4 High Density Residential to UD-F Future Urban Development to allow a future developer to create a new vision and plan for the area.

Public Information Session - 3:30 p.m. November 25, 2024, in the Forest Interpretive Centre lobby. This is an opportunity to learn more about the proposed changes and ask questions in an interactive setting.

Public Hearing4:00 p.m. November 25, 2024, in the Town Council Chambers. The Public Hearing is a formal opportunity to make presentations for or against the proposed application. These are comments directly to Council, and part of the public record.

Any individuals or organizations wishing to make a submission for the Public Hearing are encouraged to provide their comments in writing prior to noon on Thursday, November 21, 2024.

All written comments must clearly state your full name, municipal address, and your support or opposition of the proposed amendment.

The documents can be found on our website, and are available for viewing at the Town Office 5004 - 52 Avenue, Planning Desk, during regular business hours prior to the Public Hearing.
