Whitecourt Town Council Update

Posted on:

Whitecourt Town Council for the 2021-2025 term had its first Regular Meeting on October 25.   Council, which was sworn in on October 23, has already met for an orientation with Administration, and attended a governance presentation by George Cuff, a respected consultant in the municipal government sector.  Council is moving forward on budget deliberations and has scheduled a number of meetings for the coming weeks to discuss and prepare the 2022 operating and capital budgets.

A number of public appointments were made to Council Committees.  To everyone that submitted applications for Council Committees – thank you for your commitment and willingness to serve our community.  All applicants will be contacted in the coming days regarding the status of Council Committee appointments.

Whitecourt Town Council has proclaimed November 2022 as Family Violence Prevention Month.  Events and activities planned throughout the month aim to encourage Albertans to work together to promote healthy relationships and safe communities throughout our province.  Albertans are also encouraged to show their support by wearing purple throughout the month.  For information on events scheduled in Whitecourt, including the Shine A Light event and Breakfast with the Guys, visit www.whitecourtfvi.ca.

Each year, Alberta Municipal Affairs compiles results of financial and governance performance measures for all municipalities.  The performance measures are used as benchmarks by the Province to ensure Albertans live in viable municipalities that are responsible, collaborative and accountable. Whitecourt did not triggered any of the critical indicators.  To view a copy of the Municipal Indicator Dashboard for Whitecourt, visit www.whitecourt.ca/Government.
