Rural Renewal Stream

Rural Renewal Stream

The Rural Renewal Stream is run by the governments of Alberta and Canada and the Town of Whitecourt has been recognized as a Designated Community. The Rural Renewal Stream offers eligible workers an opportunity to immigrate to Whitecourt with the formal support of the Town of Whitecourt through an endorsement process. The Town of Whitecourt will work with employers by providing an Endorsement of Candidate letter to support the attraction and recruitment of newcomers that address identified labour needs for full-time permanent positions that have been vacant due to local talent shortages.

  • Employment positions eligible under the Rural Renewal Program must demonstrate a clear labour need within the community and show that the specific position cannot be filled through local talent sourcing.
  • Employers are required to engage with local employment services before considering foreign candidates for any job openings. As part of our commitment to fostering local employment and community engagement, the Town of Whitecourt will be consulting with local employment agencies to verify whether your organization has actively reached out and attempted to fill job vacancies with local candidates. This step of the Rural Renewal Stream program is crucial as it will impact your participation in our program.
  • Employers must review the eligibly requirements outlined by the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) and ensure they meet all the requirements outline on Alberta Job Offer and Employment Requirements.
  • Meetings with Economic Development will be conducted exclusively with employers only at this time. Employers must be approved into the program before an Endorsement of Candidate letter can be requested or considered.
  • Employers must ensure they complete the Employer Application in its entirety accompanied by all necessary supporting documentation. Incomplete submissions cannot be processed.
