High Streamflow Advisory for Athabasca River Basin

Two separate, but fast moving, low-pressure systems are set to bring widespread areas of precipitation to central and northern Alberta over the next six days. The River Forecast Centre (RFC) has issued a High Streamflow Advisory for portions of the Athabasca River Basin.
 
Members of the public are advised to use extreme caution around the rivers.
 
McLeod River Basin:
- McLeod River near Whitecourt: water level rise of 1 – 1.5m is expected (250 – 400cms)
 
Athabasca River Mainstem:
- Athabasca River near Windfall: water level rise of up to 1m is expected.
- Athabasca River at Whitecourt: flows between 1000 – 1200cms.
