McLeod and Athabasca Rivers Flood Watch Update for Whitecourt - June 23, 2023

While flood warnings remain in effect for both the McLeod and Athabasca Rivers in Whitecourt, water levels on both rivers have receded. Water levels on both rivers are expected to remain higher than normal over the coming days. People are reminded to use extreme caution around the rivers and floodwaters.

As of 3:00pm on June 23, 2023, the Evacuation Order for Sagitawah RV Park was cancelled.

The Evacuation Advisory Alert for areas located along the McLeod River near Highway 43 in Whitecourt, including Riverside Trailer Court, has been cancelled.

The pathway located under the Highway 43 McLeod River Bridge has reopened to the public.

The following areas remain closed to the public:

  • Festival Park, including access to the Off Leash Dog Park and the surrounding trail system in and out of Festival Park through to 47 Street;
  • 47 Street north of Flats Road;
  • Riverboat Park.

The Whitecourt Golf & Country Club remains closed. Follow the Club’s Facebook page for details on when it will reopen.
